Wedding Cakes

Instead of adding another recipe today, I decided I would share a picture of our bride and grooms cakes from our wedding two years ago. I made both of them and wanted both of them to be something completely different from anything I had ever done before. I did an uncommon thing on the bride and grooms on each cake. Instead of the bride and groom standing next to each other, the brides cake has the bride carrying the groom. On the grooms cake, the groom is carrying the bride.

That's awesome! As if planning a wedding isn't stressful enough, you managed to make not just one, but two beautiful cakes for you own!

Thank you all so much for the sweet comments. I enjoyed baking and decorating them both. After having a catering business of my own, I had made quite a few. I wanted something like I had never done before. The train around chillys cake will actually run on the track it is sitting on. I held it in place with barrel topped toothpicks from the Cracker Barrel Restaurant.
The brides cake was a lemon pound cake and the grooms cake was a chocolate pound cake. Each was made completely from scratch.

Thank you Kim and Rachel for the compliments. I did most of the food for the reception as well as the flowers and most of the decorations.
Kim, please let me know how you like the Brunswick Stew recipe.

Those cakes are beautiful! You did a fabulous job. I am soooo impressed. My cakes never look professional, but yours look like they came out of a magazine. What kind of cake is under the frosting? White and chocolate?

Thank you Cindy. There is lemon pound cake under the brides cake and chocolate pound cake on the grooms. Everything was made from scratch. I didn't want to make any of the sides completely smooth in the icing. I was pretty pleased in the way they turned out.
My mother and I had a catering business for several years. We gave it up when I started traveling with my everyday job and couldn't be home to make the food and cakes prior to the weekend.
